Office 365 Upgrade Instructions (Employees Only)

These instructions will automatically start the process to install Microsoft Office 365. This process will uninstall your current version of Office, download, then install Office 365, and copy Office 365 icons to your desktop. This process usually takes 20 to 40 minutes but could take as much as 90 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your Internet connection, the number of employees installing Office 365, and other factors that could extend the time of installation.

Note: This is only for Gannon-owned machines

Installing Office 365

  1. Close everything you have open on your computer. To be sure everything is closed, and you are ready to install Office, please restart your laptop and log in.
  2. We will not be using the VPN (SonicWall NetExtender) for this process.
  3. Click the link or open Google Chrome or another browser and go to https://kace1000.gannon.edu/user
  4. Enter your Gannon Username and Password and

click Login (Ex: smith001)
5. Click Want Software? (This will take you to the Downloads page)
6. Click Microsoft Office 365
7. Click Run Now
8. It may seem like nothing is happening, but it could take up to 5 minutes for two windows to appear:

  • One is the KACE alert telling you that Office is installing and the other is the Microsoft Office 365 Installation windows. If after 10 minutes pass and nothing appears, please let your ITS technician know.
  • The Microsoft Office window will change from “Getting things ready” to “Downloading Office”, then to “Installing Office”.
  • Finally, it will say “You’re all set! Office is installed now”.

9. At this point Microsoft Office 365 is installed, close any open windows, and restart your computer.

Register Office and Setup Outlook

  1. After you restart and login to your computer, Open Word. You will be asked to log in with your Gannon Username and Password. This will register this copy of Office 365 to your Gannon account.
  2. Second, open Outlook. You will be asked again to login with your Gannon ID and password. You may be asked to log in a few times before Outlook is ready to use. Outlook could take some time to load your email and calendar appointments. If your calendar does not load after 30 minutes, please let us know.
