How to Connect to GUWireless Network on Personal Computers

All computers connecting to the wireless, GUWireless, will be scanned to insure that anti-virus software is installed and up-to-date and that your operating system is up-to-date. The web based scan only takes a few minutes and once authenticated, your computer will only be re-scanned once a semester for requirements.

Steps to connect:

  1. Connect to GUWireless - Password: wireless@gannonuniversity
  2. Open a browser and go to
  3. Log in with your Gannon network ID and password.
  4. You will be prompted to download FortiNAC (NAC) dissolvable agent to scan your computer. Once the requirements are met you will have access.
  5. Game devices need to register separately for GUWireless access.

During Start of Semester, if a student computer fails these requirements, advise them to return to their residence hall and follow these steps.  If additional assistance is needed, they will need to contact the Help Desk.

  • Plug computer into power
  • In power settings, turn the Sleep function to never go to sleep when plugged in
  • Connect to GUWireless and complete the updates that you need
    • If it seems like the updates are stuck, reboot your computer, connect to GUWireless and start windows or virus definition updates again.
    • Continue this process until there are no more updates to download and install.
    • Once the FortiNAC scan fails, the Internet access on that computer has access to websites for updates and anti-virus software only.  There is no time limit on how long to download updates.
  • Once computer is current:
    • Connect to GUWireless
    • Open a browser to a non-Gannon website to bring up the FortiNAC agent
    • Re-scan your computer
