Description

Kaltura is a university video storage and streaming resource. It can be used for storing and streaming video for any purpose related to Gannon such as through portal pages or web pages as well as within Blackboard Learn. Students will most likely be using Kaltura in their Blackboard course(s).

More Information

  • Kaltura has a ten minute recording limit by design and guided by video best practices.

    • It is, however, possible to associate multiple 10 minutes or less videos with each other.  This can be accomplished by adding them to a playlist.

  • Kaltura is our media storage and streaming service. While it is possible to upload pictures, Kaltura is primarily for videos and audio. It is not possible to upload a PowerPoint presentation to Kaltura unless you save it as a video such as an .mp4 file. 

  • Please use the attached files on the lower right of this KB to troubleshoot issues.  Topics include:

Resolution/Troubleshooting 

Installing Kaltura on Computer:

  1. Navigate to my.gannon.edu
  2. Scroll down to " My GU Applications"
    • Select Kaltura from the list of applications
  3. Click the "+ ADD NEW" in the top right 
    • Click "Kaltura Capture"
  4. If Kaltura doesn't automatically begin to download, click to download either the Windows or Mac version and install it.

iPhone Services with Kaltura:

The KMS Go app is not yet available to use here at Gannon University. Only one option is available to iPhone users going through my.gannon.edu to Kaltura.  

To record on an iPhone:

  1. Select "Media Upload"
  2. Click the "Choose a file to upload"
  3. Select the "Take Photo or Video" option (the CaptureSpace Lite only works on a computer)

Kaltura Channel - Unable to Find Students to Grant Access:

 Kaltura accounts are created individually as users attempt to access the environment. If you are unable to find a student when trying to add them as a member on a Kaltura channel then advise the student to sign into Kaltura from my.gannon.edu to create their Kaltura account.
